Work vs Passivity

banner 2018

Hi – welcome to The SORA podcast learning to live creatively like you really mean it!

This month we’re discussing Work versus Passivity.

The podcast talks about how we can get ourselves out of the modern version of the rat race, by harmonising our yin-yang – finding peace with our inner feminine and masculine, so that our relationship with the world is maximised creatively.

Though this might sound more abstract than it could, it’s important to know the depths to which we’re conditioned into being in conflict – within ourselves, and with the world around us.

It’s not that binary thinking – boy-girl, man-woman, black-white, us-them – is inherently no good, it’s that we use ‘thinking of things as opposites of each other’ essentially to condone all kinds of conflict and violence.

art brings harmony

Instead of thinking ‘both/ and’, we use every situation in which there’s any kind of difference at all, to pitch one against the other: either/ or: one has to be right, one has to be wrong – one has to be good or bad, one has to win and one has to lose, and so on.

This kind of mental warring – and it really is a kind of internal war – makes us see all kinds of external conflict around us as ‘right’ and even ‘good’.

It says that someone must always be on top, and so someone must always be on the bottom – and this becomes scaled up to global proportions – country versus country, us versus the planet…

Which is all based on an immature stage of our human evolution: we’re stuck in child mode, without the depth and long-term vision that a grown-up should have.

We’re being called to action, we see all around us the state of the world, the pain that we’re all in, and yet, we carry on as if that is nothing to do with us….

So what can we do?

Make art.

It might seem like the most frivolous of activities, in the face of global economic-political-environmental-spiritual chaos BUT that thinking is another aspect of our conflicted conditioning.

Art in fact brings harmony, because it allows us to put in front of ourselves whatever is going on inside – it instantly makes flow, and it immediately shows us what’s really happening (which is often subtly different from what the logical brain is surmising!) – and so brings our awareness into it: the first step in profound change. Art brings oneness: it brings all things together, which slowly, gently, eases us out of polemical thinking, and into harmony.

When was the last time you approached a pure creative act and let yourself be immersed in it? If it was a long time ago, you likely will need some stimulus and perhaps even some guidance to keep you connected with what you’re doing.

Pop over to the free courses, or see the in-depth SORA course in the raw version of the school – both are filled with inspiring lessons and challenges, to get you making and expanding…. Lots more news soon!

The SORA will be releasing new lessons and courses throughout 2019 – The Intuitive Artist 101, Being Visible vs Being Exposed, The Intuitive Creative Business and more – ask any Qs below, and follow the links to sign up.

BEING VISIBLE vs BEING EXPOSED…

So there’s currently a huge online phenomenon of creative people vying for space, and trying to draw the maximum attention to themselves… emphasis on the word ‘trying’, because social media seems saturated right now with folks pushing themselves out there in an effort to make the insignificant seem powerfully important, and without any real focus on the timing and direction of their message – seeking to be authentic, but perhaps rushing into that ‘authenticity’ because they’re essentially following the consumer, busy-ness model.

There is great skill in being seen, in being visible, in a way that really works for us… AND there is great skill in finding our hidden, safe space – which I feel strongly that all creatives can benefit from, but that particularly sensitive, intuitive, whole women need in order to be well. When we know how to retreat well, we can cultivate a far greater presence – rather than becoming the irate artist who never rests, and who builds up such a tense state, that they resent anyone disturbing their work…

artbizeffortless

I’m coming to the end of a long period of also having been stuck in the hamster wheel of ‘effortful attention grabbing’. I’ve been following trains of thought around business and online presence that stress the push and pull, and the breenging* ahead.

This approach is promoted so ubiquitously and so fully, because it aligns with the hunt-and-catch masculine activity of the transaction, the purchase, the consumption.

It doesn’t however align with the organic, the seasonal and harmonious, the intuitive and/ or the attracting power of the deep feminine. It asks us to take our deep creative power and to pedal it, to auction it off to whoever is hungriest for it – to put what-should-be-sacred on show for all and to raise our voices to draw attention to it, rather than nurturing it gently so that it naturally, effortlessly attracts the right audience.

Essentially, we’re encouraged to use sneaky manipulative techniques – ‘you need this’, ‘this is the deeper you’, your life is dull and boring without this’, ‘you must buy this now, or you will miss your chance’ – putting pressure on our clients to consume quick, grab quick.

Marry this with the changing algorithms of social media, which favour the bold and outward, the skilled hunter and manipulator, rather than the deep and meaningful…
I’m not suggesting that this is such a terrible approach, but I am saying that it’s not right for many of us – and that it’s leading to loads of clunky, unsuccessful, burned-out folks, who are sinking deeper into the heavy murk of their own muddy scenarios… That this approach essentially isn’t getting many of us seen or heard by the people who actually want to see and hear us, NOR is it getting across what we actually – deeply – want to express and communicate.

The deep and the meaningful come through slowing down, through listening to the moment, and from our using our fullness-of-being as our compass. By its very nature, the sacred simply cannot come from the front lobe consciousness alone: it has to come from the profoundly, wholly felt, and from the interconnected and aligned.

Making the deep and the meaningful visible, is about how we create a gateway – be that e.g. a soundbite, meme, painting, workshop, school – for others to see what we are seeing, to feel what we are feeling: to enter with us into a new, larger perspective and understanding. It can’t be achieved by simply revving up where we are right now, by talking louder and making fancy statements.

Meaningfulness has to be accessed by first de-cluttering the surface in order to delve inwards – by being humble and listening to the universe, so that we can actually hear what it is uniquely sharing with us – by hearing what the universe wants us to manifest in this world – what it needs us to share, that will help the world right now.

Meaningfulness is NOT achieved by encouraging the spaghetti tangle of what our small ego-mind says our projected abstraction of the collective conscious wants to hear! If we don’t dedicate significant time to NOT being inundated with silliness and superficial stimulation (and take a break from putting stuff like that out ourselves!) we simply won’t be able to hear the quiet voice, the deeper beat, the subtle-monumental alchemy of domesticity…

The ‘doing’ of making the art, of being creative, is as much about the emptiness of doing nothing, of inactivity, of rumination and reflection, of gestation and digestion – it needs its perfect opposite – the yin needs the yang – the day needs the night, etc… The feminine, the whole woman, and the deep intuitive all need periods of real rest, of privacy and silence, of communing with nature and the mystical, in order to recharge, to be able to even harvest our energy.

INTUITIVE ART & INTERCONNECTEDNESS

Hi and welcome to The School Of Real Art – and our podcast this month on intuitive art and interconnectedness:

Our world is compartmentalised and detached in so many ways; from our language to our bodies, our politics and our environment, our values and (our lack of) sense of responsibility – our relationship with the world is conditioned from before birth to be disharmonious.

Many of us spend a great deal of our waking life pondering on how we can bring more harmony, more synchrony, in to our life; there are whole philosophies and new age movements based around this. And yet, it’s all so fricking illusive, eh?

In fact, the tools for bringing our state of consciousness into The Flow – for realigning -are already within us and around us – just about everyone has access to a pencil and paper, to get started…

I’m very excited, as mentioned in the podcast, to be reshaping The SORA right now – to have a completely fresh perspective and new work-space to be creating it in. My health has been very problematic this year, but I’m on top of it now, and making great progress, and already excited about setting up new videos and course pages.

In the meantime – keep in touch – go sign up for your free courses – or see the longer courses and sets of podcasts that you can purchase – it’s all over on Teachable.

So much creative inspiration and well-being to you,

FOLLOW YOUR ART podcast

Hi! Welcome to the School of Real Art podcast and blog, this beautiful June!

This month’s talk is about vulnerability, and how we can use art to make sense of/ witness our deepest sensitivity – and thus transform it.

The key is movement – energetic movement that connects our body-mind-emotions-somatic-experience: primal activities like drawing and painting (or gardening, sewing, cooking – all the potent domestic alchemies!) allow us to delve into this flow.

It’s important to understand that we’re not static ‘objects’ entering a flow outside of our self… we are dynamic beings, whose consciousness is movement, and whose well-being depends on this ongoing, changing, colourful energetic flux.

If you love what you hear, or are stimulated by it to respond – please let me know your thoughts below. The School of Real Art is passionate about your creative expansion and healing. Join us on Teachable too, when you’re ready! You can also watch our About The RSOA series, there.

CREATING FROM OUR CORE…

Hi! Welcome to the School of Real Art blog + podcast for May.

Here’s this month’s podcast on creating from our core… Why this is so important, because of what we can access when we work from the centre, rather than trying to navigate our creative path via outer resources.

Read on after, for news about the School of Real Art…

This month is exciting!

The first NEW RSOA videos are being released via clare artista on Patreon!

The school now has a fresh format and stable roots in the practical-mystical, and will be unfolding weekly, with all the new content available via Patreon, and the whole school available as a package later this year.

There are also two new sets of creative inspiration podcasts to whet your appetite for the school:

WOMAN, ART, MONEY is a series of 10 podcasts, each around 10 to 25 mins, going into some of the deeper and practical concerns of art and money; how we work as artists and thrive financially, by understanding the complexity and underlying energy of money. The series goes into why we struggle so, and reveals some of the biggest-but-ridiculously-simple secrets around how to access a truly enduring power in our work and lives as creative folk. This course costs $30.

THE CREATIVE INSPIRATION PODCAST SERIES is a set of 13 short talks on how we can all thrive creatively – modern life isn’t always the most conducive to making, imagining, expressing ourselves – so here are a set of inspiring guidelines around how we get over blocks and distractions, and get into the depth of our own unique creative flow. However mysterious or labyrinthine the artist’s path might seem from the outside, almost all aspects of the happy creative life are incredibly simple to pursue: it’s all about pleasure, fulfilment, and just doing it. This course costs $20 UNTIL THE END OF THIS WEEK, when it’ll go up to $30.

real school of art – creative evolution!

Hi! Here’s a podcast about the development of the school: there is a lot going on behind the scenes, and I am very excited about where it is going…

New students are enrolling every week for your free opt-in courses (there are currently two of them!) and The RSOA first edition is getting glowing reviews! It is so beautiful to hear feedback from creatives really benefiting from the lessons!!

Three important points here, as the school expands:

  1. If you write me up some feedback about the intro course(s) for the school, I’ll thank you with a 30% OFF COUPON for the first (full) edition of the school.
  2. I’m creating an RSOA SCHOLARSHIP – an annual award of at least one free place on the school, for a special person in financial hardship, with a massive creative potential that keenly wants to be freed. My professional support will be offered alongside the course.
  3. ALL of you who buy the very-affordable first edition of the school will have it UPGRADED to the visionary super-creative-expansion version of the school, when it births into being later this year/ early 2019.

Hear more about it all, in the podcast above – and I so look forward to seeing you in the school!
